(Are we looking at the next big designer collaboration in fashion?) When I asked them what they liked best about London they both agreed it was the freedom to express themselves in their dress. They used to be ridiculed for the way they dress in the small town they are from, saying in London people are more individual and original and like what they wear. Ari Seth Cohen over at <a href="http://advancedstyle.blogspot.com/2011/01/advanced-style-on-subject-of-bullying.html">Advanced Style</a> wrote an interesting piece this week about a young man from South Carolina asking for help with the fashion bulling he was going through. So it goes on everywhere.<br />Pedro told me the the most surprising thing about himself is the way he wears his clothes. David told me he could knit. Now these guys are dressed wonderfully and after they had gone I was kicking myself that I didn't give you a close up on their hands as they were both wearing amazing rings. I will tell you about them in a mo when I let you know where they are from. Pedro's style influence today is <a href="http://www.philiptreacy.co.uk/">Philip Treacy</a> and military. Usually it is just the 1st thing he sees. I asked them where their favourite place in London was. Tom said Mile End which is were Teri-Jayne lives (for now) and Teri-Jayne said <a href="http://www.sketch.uk.com/">Sketch</a> which is were she went for her birthday recently. When I met them they had just been buying some lomography film and were going off to visit the <a href="http://www.museumofeverything.com/">Museum of Everything</a> in Primrose Hill. Their surprises were that Tom has a grade A in drumming and Teri-Jayne is really into dinosaurs. Tom's coat is from <a href="http://www.beyondretro.com/">Beyond Retro</a>, his shirt is from a charity shop, tie is made from some ribbon from a haberdashery dept. His jeans are from <a href="http://www.thegap.co.uk/?tid=gups000196&kwid=1&ap=7&sem=true&mkwid=DEKyTJf5&adid=tnc&creative=7914720826">Gap</a>, shoes are his dad's and the socks are from M&S. The bag is actually Teri-Jayne's and is from Spain. Teri-Jayne is wearing a coat from a charity shop, collar, scarf, cardy and playsuit from <a href="http://www.beyondretro.com/">Beyond Retro</a> and her shoes are from <a href="http://www.underground-england.co.uk/">Underground</a>.

Their faces are being lit by a reflection from a window in a building behind me. Otherwise just look at Gordon and Envy they are so beautifully turned out. Most of you know by now that I really admire people who can put a vintage look together well. Gordon and Envy have certainly done that, I am sure you will agree. Gordon is also a photographer. He shoots studio portraits in the style of the original Hollywood movie stars, when glamour meant beautiful and wasn't the dirty word it is associated with now in photography. He also draws inspiration from portraits taken of soldiers before they went off to war and the wedding photography of the same era. You can see his work <a href="http://www.gordonayresphotographer.com/">here.</a> Envy is a hair and make-up artist (mostly make-up though). She will also give vintage styling tips if you are going to an event. She can recreate make-up looks for you from the 1920's to 80's. Her own personal style inspiration is taken from the 20's, 30's, 40's and early 50's, with her favourite being the 1940's and with 1947 being a great year. Gordon also draws his inspiration from the same era's, "anything pre 1960". He loves early aviation and as you can see aviator wear from the 30's. He has fond memories as a child of having the experience of flying in a couple of planes from the 1930's. They both like to dance and regularly attend vintage parties in Switzerland, France, Italy and Spain. Envy doesn't go into shops instead buys her clothes from trusted private sellers. Her coat is from America and her dress is a 1951 Grace Kelly.

When dressing, where she can she likes to mix high and low end together. Rob is at Uni studying History of Art. His favourite period being the 17th Century. Arabella works in event production. I should have asked them how they met. Surprisingly Rob is fluent in Hungarian as he lived there for 5 years "not the most useful language to be fluent in the world." (Some great photographers came out of Hungary though, Robert Cappa for example.) Arabella's Mum writes knitting books so as a result she knows how to knit very well. To start with he is a film maker, writer/director. He had just come from a meeting with his composer when our paths crossed. At the moment he is putting the final touches to a short film trilogy called Entropic of Cancer which will premier in March. He told me that his style is influenced by his friends "they clothe me". When I asked what he was listening to on his ipod he said Goldie and the music from his film. His surprise was that he has a poster collection housed at the V&A. Outside in....The Saatchi Gallery

Today I bring you a little side step from the norm. I would say that the Saatchi Gallery is my favourite in London. I love this space. I love the air around the work. The light in there is amazing, it is a great size and I always feel good about having gone. I visited over the holidays and for once I took some pictures while I was there so thought I would share my favourites.<br /><br />Swarm by <a href="http://www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk/artists/tessa_farmer.htm?section_name=new_britannia">Tessa Farmer</a> have a look more closely at her work with the link it is amazing - little skeletons on the backs of suspended bees, wasps and dragonflies. I was enraptured and then noticed the look on the faces of the people around me. So there is no image of my 3rd favourite work in the exhibition - is by <a href="http://www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk/artists/richard_wilson.htm">Richard Wilson</a> and is in the basement in room 13 and is a room full of oil - it was smelly but fascinating and it took a while to figure out just exactly what was happening. I have just realised it has always been there as it is on permanent display. This was obviously then the 1st time I have ventured into the basement. Although there were other works that I liked these were the ones that caught my attention most.

Here we have Agathe she is originally from Paris, where she lived until she was 17. Then it was on to the USA to Berkley Uni where she studied Political Science. Her journey from there took her back to Paris, to Japan and then on to London. She like living in Japan saying that the people are nice. She also told me she loves Korea. For the past 8 months she has been working for <a href="http://www.bartleboglehegarty.com/">BBH</a> as a strategist. Agathe describes her style influences as schizophrenic. Her mother is an upper class conservative French lady. As a result Agathe grew up with a lot of rules. For a long time her apparel was precise and regimented, saying she spent a lot of time in twin set and pearls. Now, it is very different and even though she has lived away from home and has had her own style for a while her mother still comments about it, wondering at Agathe's "weird attraction to fancy dress". The freedom of dress is another reson she likes the Japanese, she loves their style, saying "they know how to mix it up and make it work". She told me she usually dresses a little more wackily than she has done today. Agathe is interested in fashion but "would never go with what Grazia says, as it is unimaginative". So not mainstream fashion. She loves to pick items and make them her own - but the extent of her craftiness so far is the ability to change buttons. Surprisingly Agathe is a Yoga teacher and would like to consider herself as a Yogi, which she says is completely contradictory to her love of fashion. She spent 6 months in India for her teacher training and only had 2 outfits with her for the whole time she was there. She says when she got back to London it was "woo hoo Topshop" - I see what she means. Here her earmuffs are from <a href="http://thevillagescandal.com/">The Village Scandal</a> in NYC. Tights are <a href="http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/TopCategoriesDisplay?storeId=12556&catalogId=33057">Topshop</a>. She bought the skirt in Seoul but cant remember the name of the store and her jumper is from <a href="http://www.jackwills.com/">Jack Wills</a>.
